The people killing your deals are not in the room — and they are reading your content

LinkedIn and Edelman surveyed nearly 2,000 executives and found that over 40% of B2B deals stall because of stakeholders the sales team never talks to. Finance, legal, procurement — the "hidden buyers." The surprising part: 63% of them spend over an hour per week reading thought leadership.

The headline finding — 40% of deals stall due to hidden buyers — is not news to anyone who has sold enterprise software. What is new is the data on what these hidden influencers actually do with their time. They are reading. A lot. 63% spend more than an hour per week on thought leadership content, and 95% say high-quality content makes them more receptive to sales outreach.

This flips the usual B2B content strategy question. Most vendors ask "how do we get the decision-maker to download our whitepaper?" The better question is: "what is the CFO reading when she is deciding whether to approve this deal?" Because she is not reading your case study — she is reading about the category, the risk, the alternatives.

This is exactly the gap B2B Library exists to fill. Content that helps the procurement lead understand the technical tradeoffs. Content that helps the finance team understand what they are actually buying. Not vendor marketing — vendor content that has been read and annotated honestly.
